DID YOU KNOW?
Kids should have an orthodontic consultation between ages 7-10. At this age, we perform a growth and development assessment to determine whether a child needs treatment and plan the best course of action.
What to Expect at Your Orthodontic Consultation
Each orthodontic consultation is unique, but there are common elements of every orthodontic consultation. During the consultation we will:
- Take panoramic X-rays that show all the teeth and their roots in one view. This helps us develop an effective, custom treatment plan for your kiddo’s smile.
- Take photos of your child’s mouth, so when treatment is complete you can see the significant changes and improvements. (Exciting!)
- Review your child’s dental and medical history. We need to know about any physical or mental health issues that could impact treatment compliance. Also, please bring a list of your child’s current medications, including vitamins and supplements.
- Complete a comprehensive oral examination, this will alert the doctor to any existing dental work or dental health issues that need to be addressed prior to undergoing orthodontic therapy.
- Discuss our findings with you and your child and then present treatment options.
- Answer any questions you may have about the orthodontic treatment options.
- Develop a personalized treatment plan for your child, based on X-rays, examination findings, and your preferences.
